HubbardFoss has been busy this Fall in SF so their upcoming December Open Studio was a perfect reason to make a post Thanksgiving jaunt and help them prepare.Richard has recently been making some nice press with his in the customremodeling projects for some local businesses a little while back such as theremodel of Dalva's "Hide Out" (by UrbanDaddy) and most recently the play he has beengetting from the restyling of the new location of "Pot and Pantry"(by Refinery29.com and Remodelista.com.) Donna's (@potandpantry) first space was soamazing but her great idea was bursting at the seams with kitchen treasures sopairing up with HubbardFoss again to launch her new space at 18th &Guerrero. With all this love in the air for local art it seemed the perfect time to open the doors and get a sneak peak inside the studio!

I stalked Ann Marie until she took these pictures of this little Fritillaria arrangement I made before we left a party she hosted at her gallery. Now, some people say they have a funky scent, and yes, most fritillaries contain poisonous alkaloids - but they are so darn pretty!

Great Florist - Terrible Blogger....but as I catch up and try to my posts I am pouring over the gorgeous images that photographers have so graciously emailed me I don't think I have taken the time to brag about the local artists that I like to include in my designs. So let me take a moment and introduce Clay Artist Shari Sikora.

Her artist statement starts out "I am an artist; it’s not what I do, but simply who I am and always have been." and it is so true. What she "Does" and how I met her is via Valley Press Inc. (a family owned custom pre-press, printing and finishing company I use in Bala Cynwd, PA. where she creates amazing designs and keeps me coming back because she reads my mind - especially when I lose my nouns.)

But I digress! Here is what she really does...

What she is, is an amazing artist who creates wonderful pieces in clay & uses the Raku method of firing. Ironically Raku means "enjoyment" or "ease" - which fits in perfectly since she says that "from the first day she touched clay she loved it."

You have seen her work in a number of shots (courtesy of AMC) where I used her fridge magnets as place setting decor. I have pretty much stalked her shows to purchase all the teal and gold flower button magnets. Each one is unique with vintage button centers she has lovingly selected from her mother's extensive (and I mean huge yet meticulously organized) collection. In addition to the local craft shows, you can see Shari's work regularly at the Potters Guild as well as Earth & State in Media, PA.

I miss you so much! Here is another post that got 1/2 way done before I got distracted by beautiful flowers and lovely brides...way back on...OMG! March 16th! Yikes! I am feeling some particular stress since we just wrapped up the October Open House at the IVC & I am worried AMC will hold the new images hostage! (Just kidding ...sort of...) Anyway check out these unpublished gems...

Ann Marie Casey (AMC) has been a busy photographer, here are a few real shots from our previously mentioned Open House at the Independence Visitor's Center (IVC) below. Check out the slides show to the right for more details. During set up she was 'yelling' at me to stop...I thought I had her behind schedule, but really she said "...I kept giving her too many things to shoot!" I met a lot of super cute brides at this event and booked 3 weddings! (which by now I am sure I should be posting their pics!)

You know how I like to rock out a "Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall" theme for open houses not only because I like to torture myself by trying to find out of season flowers but because it give visiting guests an idea of what their wedding could look like depending on when they get married!

Amazing Spring Events = Beautiful Parties > No Social Media ~ Where did Spring go?!

I have to admit I was feeling so on top of technology - I had a whirl wind of Facebooking, Twittering, LinkedIn and Blogging...then I got my hands dirty....I started this post in May and now it's the middle of ~~June~~ ~~August~~ ~~September~~ October! How does everyone do it?!

There have been so many great events, lovely brides and fun projects - lets start with one previously unpublished gem of a posting that was super fun: Campbell Studios presents at the Philadelphia Flower Show. PHS set up a round platform presentation area where different designers/floral artists from the area were invited to give a demo for a few hours.

The Philadelphia International Flower Show 2011was March 6 - 13th where "Springtime in Paris" had everyone itching for a sign of warmer days. I had the opportunity to 'present' in the Designer Showcase. I invited Ann Marie (AMC Photography) to come and capture Kristie and I in action.

Now, while I am not short of opinions and my 'Girl Friday' Kristie knows more flower names than I do after 20 years in the business - we don't actually like to be onstage. (Or on camera for that matter - so AMC had to go undercover.) So we transformed the round stage that we were supposed to speak from and turned it into the platform for the flowers and we mixed and mingles with the crowd!
We had so much fun!

Our plan was to give people a tip that they can take and actually do themselves. Something that they could go home, try & say with pride "I made that!" I filled my garden trolley up with my personal collection of vintage containers, ash trays, vases and buckets so I could show people how to design in regular containers - things they may already have.
All we needed was a rubberband to make these people feel like Martha Stewart!

And we were worried no one would come see us...we were wrong!
People were taking notes!

We were nervous at first, but had a really great time! See you next year! XOXO Kristie & Judith

Cocktails and Connection: The Knot |The Bump

Campbell Studios was so psyched when Mark Kingsdorf of The Queen of Hearts Wedding Consultants asked us to be the Floral Sponsor for last nights sold out industry networking event held at The Please Touch Museum (PTM) by The Knot. Kim Rifici (Catering & Facility Senior Sales Manager for Max and Me Catering at the PTM) and I had such a fun time picking the rentals out to compliment Mark's "Speak Easy/1920's Art Deco Party" theme inspiration. We started with the linens that Nancy Bauman from Gala Cloths provided and it all started to come together.

When guests entered the South Foyer, they were greeted with an Art Deco vibe..the Pluto Linen dressed the tables here and Campbell Studios used all silver toned containers in sleek designs. When I look at all the vintage wedding portraits I have collected from that time period, (aside from the masses of Plumosus Fern!) I think of classic flowers such as Baby's Breath, Chrysanthemums, Gardenias and Roses. I also think of those gorgeous Max Leverrier Deco Lamps. So as a homage to the 20's we made giant Baby's Breath spheres on trumpet vases, tulips in stylized tulip vases and roses/gardenias here and there. Ann Marie Casey was attending and graciously shot a couple set up pics for us...Thank You AMC!

The white furniture from Dave Buckley from AFR kept the design grounded and Ellen Diamond Williamson from On Q Productions Inc. highlighted all the details with her fabulous lighting team. Shutterbooth gave everyone a chance to capture the moment with complimentary photo booth fun.

When guests moved on from cocktails into Hamilton Hall we flowed from "Deco" to "Speak Easy." Bentwood chairs added just the right touch to the Waldorf Damask linens...we finished them off with cigar boxes, vintage books and ferns (I had to get the ferns in there somewhere!)

Carmen Tomassetti and the CTO Artists rocked the house while Dave Williams of CinemaCake captured it all on film for the evening! Susan Beard Photography was the official Photographer Sponsor - stay tuned for their event images!

Brian Toner from Eventions kept all the sponsors logos rolling on his video screens - like ours which recently made its debut:

Everyone wrapped up the evening with coffee that Marci Mathis from Maui Wowi provided and my favorite food group cake by Esgro 's Pasticceria in the Carousel House.Thank you everyone for making this event so exciting to produce and attend!

Style Me Pretty | Kate and Luke SMP Featured Wedding

How ironic that I sit down to catch the Campbell Studios Blog up on all the fun we have been having this summer only to find that one of my favorite sites "Style Me Pretty" picked up the submission CinemaCake and BUPhotography submitted of Kate and Luke's wedding this past May! They were one of the last posts I wrote, what a great way to start the week!

Campbell Studios did all of the Event Design and Wedding Coordination - it was such a pleasure to pull together Kate and Luke's personal sense of style for their big day! From Kate's gorgeous Junko Yoshioka gown to the long reception tables (a first at the Union League!) filled with all white open Peonies, Hydrangea and Roses - the wedding had details specific to them at each turn.

Katy Goodman | The Please Touch Museum

Katy and Jeff found me via Sofia Negron - their photographer, and we hit it off from the start! The Wedding and Reception were both held at The Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia. Various shades of reds made up the color pallet - all developing from the 'Red Majestic' callas in her bouquet...(which ended up not being as red as anticipated; but a call earlier in the week to the bride to talk about color assured all that it would balance out the red bridesmaids perfectly - and it did!) The colors flowed through the event beautifully.

The silver foiled containers gave consistency to both the centerpiece designs, while the red napkins brought the signature color to the edge of the table.

I love the way Sofia catches moments like this, when you are not looking at the camera - but are truly in the moment..

Campbell Studios had the pleasure of doing the event design, floral decor and coordination for Kate and Luke. The ceremony was at Old St. Joseph's and the reception was at the Union League where Abby Kanak and her amazing staff took care of every guests needs. Everyone rocked out to Chico's Vibe, who read the crowd and rocked the house. All of the printed materials were done my one of my favorites Kramer Drive.
I can barley stand waiting for Bernadette to finish up with the Photos! Stay tuned for more...!

Independence Visitor Center Wedding Open House | 3.16.2011

One of Philly's best kept secret venues, The Independence Visitors Center (IVC) is having a wedding showcase this Wednesday from 6-8 PM in the Liberty View Ballroom! Michelle from Max & Me Catering and Roshni from the IVC are an amazing team. Come join us and see what this gem has to offer! Great views, perfect location and fabulous food!
Campbell Studios will be decorating four tables: Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall so you can imagine the room with decor. The centerpieces will be designed to suggest the possibilities, and while maybe a little over the top there should be an element of inspiration for you to take away with you. Thank you to Studio Nine for capturing some shots of the table settings and flowers last week! I did a little extra table dressing this week with my favorite invitation design studio Kramer Drive. I had the inspiration to add teh printed materials a little late in the game but Meg and Ashley did not disappoint! They provided all of the coordinating Table Numbers, Seating Cards and Menu Cards. So lovely! Thank you!

The National Constitution Center gave everyone tours, Max and Me served up tasty treats, Isgro Pasticceria had sample wedding cakes and Advanaced Staging showcased the power of lighting!

I was catching up with Adrienne last week and she shared the news that she and Dennis are expecting! I am so glad we got a little time (and some photos!) before the little one arrives! ...if Cinemacake wasn't so good a making Films, they could go into PR! I picked up the mail yesterday - which is usually kinda sad...bills, junk mail, you know what I mean. But there was a little package this time. Hmm. I don't know anybody in Chalfont. So imagine when I cracked that baby open and two of my favorite things were inside - Pastry and Cinemacake!

That's right - a little treat from Dave and Sheryl. Perfectly formed, not a single one broken, with each of our logos on it Butter Cookies!

Now, as a company with 'cake' (another one of my food groups) in their name - you might have thought I would have said they should be Bakers. But they would have had to duke it out with Kim at Park Avenue Pastries. And really - if we all just let people do what they do best, the world would be a better place. Kim is amazing. Great ideas, great sense of style and most important - tasty (cookies that is!) There is information on her website regarding the fresh factor and it is suggested that we "enjoy them within two months of receiving them." I practically fell off the couch laughing, but another one of those buttery treats would have been in jeopardy - no way these babies are making it through the weekend!

I met Ann Marie Casey at Jacob Berger's Bar Mitzvah and we have been running into each other a lot lately! She was the families photographer for the day (check out the event!) I am so excited that she invited me to be a part of her first Youth Planning Party on March 3, 2011 from 12 to 3 p.m. at her new studio space in Ardmore. Giant Bridal/Mitzvah Expo style events just aren't my style and I 'm glad to report not Ann Marie's either. So when she proposed this low key, meet and greet where talented vendors can share what they do with anyone interested in checking us out I was in! Stacie and Zach | October 23, 2010 Update Pictures!

Stacie and Zach got their pictures back and shared a few...they had so many great details! They picked this community garden for their "first look." So appropriate since all of their inspiration images during our consultation were fruit, veggies and shots they took from a Farmer's Market!

Stacie had a sweet little secret note for Zach to kick off their day - and then they were swinging...literally! Zach is so swank and Mad Men like!

Stacie knew she wanted bright green Fuji mums for her bridesmaids, so we built on that and her aubergine color pallet - I added a touch of Rosemary to her bouquet for a bit of good luck. It has been used as a symbol of remembrance and fidelity in weddings for centuries....and so it continues.

The ceremony and reception were at the NCC, and they walked in to wine and moss toned linens, with centerpieces that were practically built from the Farmer's Market!

Hanna's Bat Mitzvah | IVC 1.15.11

I always enjoy working at the Independence Visitor Center (IVC) in the Liberty View Ballroom. I think it is one of those hidden treasures. It has both indoor and outdoor experiences for your guests and you can choose from two fantastic caterers: Gourmetro or Max and Me Catering.

Hannah celebrated her Bat Mitzvah at the gorgeous Rodeph Shalom Synagogue and rocked out her Reception at the IVC. Her mom is a graphic designer so she personalized all of her daughters invitations, table numbers and signs with sketches and drawings that Hannah did herself.

This girl loved color so that was her "theme" per say... Hot pink, orange, red all liked together with a bright chartreuse green...the room was transformed! Hannah's sketches were enlarged and used as table runners down the center of the 'Kids' tables.

The Kids area and the Adult tables were divided by the dance floor that had tons of lanterns overhead.

The adults had two styles of centerpieces. One to connect to the bright green of the kids and tall trees with hanging Gerberas to connect with outside and Hannah's botanical like sketches.

Wish Upon a Wedding | Top of the Tower 1.31.11

We thought we would kick off the month of love with some big LOVE of our own (statue that is!)

Campbell Studios was a proud local sponsor for the launch of the Philadelphia Chapter of "Wish Upon a Wedding" hosted at the Top of the Tower at 3 Logan Square.

WUW provides weddings and vow renewals to couples facing terminal illness or other serious life-altering circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation. Often, couples facing such situations do not have the energy, time, money, or resources needed to plan their wedding. This organization takes care of all the details, offering couples a chance to relax and enjoy a very special day while surrounded by the love of their closest family and friends.

There were lots of great sponsors from the industry there including Cupcakes Gourmet...

and I need to find out who donated these little pieces of twisted love!

While saying we look forward to being called upon to fulfill a wish would be bitter sweet - we will be honored to be a part of making someones day filled with beauty and love.

I have done weddings with Cliff in the past - but last minute he was unable to attend so photographer Ann Marie Casey came in to save the day! I was so glad she could jump in and capture the table setting details. It was so cool too, she was taking these shots when the sun had already gone down but she got such great views from the windows. Ho Ho Holy Cow! Holiday Parties are Back!

And this one was Comcastic! I am so glad Holiday Parties are back - especially ones that are ready for something fun and different. I was so excited when this client gave me the freedom to design something slightly retro with a touch of mid-century inspiration - in Pink and Orange! Yay Christmas! Sofia Negron spent the day with me as I made final touches and snapped a few shots for us.

Above an amoeba shaped seating sections we decked the hall with some hanging circles and spheres...I can't decide which I like better... the trees or the balls!

I have been having such a fun Fall - that I am yet again behind in blogging! But I got a really sweet note from Erika. She and Ryan got their Wedding Trailer from Glen Elliott this past week and she passed it along for me to check out. I have a lot to say about their day- I had the opportunity to do both the flowers as well as the wedding coordinating for their wedding at the National Constitution Center...but the details on that will have to wait until tomorrow. "I just want to thank you again for everything you did for our wedding! The flowers and centerpieces were beautiful, and the stair decor had everyone buzzing.

For our honeymoon, we went to a spa whose toiletries were all rosemary scented- the smell of rosemary will always bring back memories of our wedding day, since it was in my bouquet and Zach's boutonniere! All day long we kept getting whiffs of it :)

Open House: The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Philadelphia

You know you have passed it a million times - maybe even paid more attention to it since our friends in City Hall have installed the red light cameras at it's intersection - yes, The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Philadelphia. My friends at Culinary Concepts are hosting an Open House this Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.and Campbell Studios is pleased to be doing the flowers! If you are downtown take an early lunch break and check it out! Not only will there be great food but you can take a tour of the Temple (one at 12:00 p.m. and another at 1:00 p.m.) and learn all of it's secrets....well some of them anyway! So while I was cleaning up my photos and getting ready to catch up on all the events we have had over the late summer/fall - I couldn't resist a post with me sporting this mammoth corsage! It is almost the size of my head! I do a lot of non-profit coordination for schools in addition to the wedding coordinating. At the end of October I was working with Malvern Prep for their Alumni Awards Ceremony and Homecoming Weekend. These corsages were made by Matlack Florist in West Chester for all of the moms who had a Senior playing in one of the games. (Lucky for me someone couldn't make it!)

Seriously, I got three calls asking where we got them - the big corsage trend is back!

Pretty Please...Touch....

I have had some really fun weddings this season at the Please Touch Museum - it was a delight to be there again for their latest Open House. Sofia Negron had a table set up there too, so we had a fun time chatting it up with the ladies. I love to see the newly engaged couples with their families, so fresh in the process - exploring all their options. I did the design for my two tables backwards this time and took the cloths into consideration first. Meet gorgeous number one and gorgeous number two:

Once I had those it was off to the market - I selected what was freshest and most conducive to the linens. Then there was the design...Sofia had pointed out to me one time that it seems like my thing was 'collections.' I had never really noticed this - but now I was painfully aware that given free reign I cram a lot into the center of the table. So I like a lot to look at sometimes! Maybe if more gals felt this way I wouldn't have to feed the compulsion every open house!

I digress - so I said "don't worry - no collections this time!" but low and behold these new silver foiled container arrived and I just had to do it!

And this was not meant to be a "Fall" display - but it sure would be a lovely option for the season...

And I am still applying for that job as Sofia's assistant:

It has been a crazy Fall - I can not wait to post some of the beautiful Summer/Fall weddings and finally get caught up on blogging! I got a beautiful CD from Ann Marie Casey Photography which has some gorgeous detail shots (if I must say so myself!) They will be posted soon! I met her for the first time when she was shooting Jacob Berger's Bar Mitzvah earlier season. She dropped me an email to let me know that she submitted the event to the blog "Mitzvah Market" and they posted her coverage of the event - and they came along with some pretty nice kudos to Campbell Studio s...Thank You Anne Marie and Mitzvah Market!

Just in time for Halloween: The Bat Orchid

I swung by the flower market yesterday to pick up a few extra things & ran into their Dutch flower buyer - he was so excited about the Tacca Chantrieri Black Orchid that has recently hit the market, and I can see why! I was so psyched when he gave me one as a treat to take home! (Which I totally did! So the image below is from the web until I can decide what to make with it...it's just so pretty all on it's own!)

These things are putting the spring in everyone's step... I was at another wholesaler today who couldn't wait to see if I got the gift he sent - yep - a few Tacca Chantrieri! I feel so lucky, this is like Christmas! I can only imagine this was the first week they became available considering all the buzz.

The Tacca have a long stem with a deep chocolate color similar to the Chocolate Cosmo, long dangling whiskers and these outer wings that hold smaller petite blossoms within...so cool! While they are a little on the pricey side...they have a long life as a fresh cut, so they are well worth it! But they will have some limited availability, so if you are as hot to trot about these as I am, just give me advanced notice to bring them in for you!

It looks like we are on the slippery slope to digging out our cars from 18" of snow and pining for our "Vacation of a Lifetime." Pack up the flip-flops, say 'good bye' to Lily Pulitzer. I peeked out my apartment window this morning and it is official. Fall has arrived!

But along with great sorry comes hope...gorgeous Dahlias, lovely textured berries, vines and branches are arriving into the flower market for the new season. It's like celebrating a Birthday or Christmas when I go buying - there is always something new. Seeing them is as if old friends are back and I can't wait to dive into designing Fall.

I love an Open House!

It has been a crazy week but I take every chance I get to help out the NCC and Max and Me Catering when they have a showcase for prospective brides. They send me a list of all their rentals and linens for the tables, and ask me to design a complimentary arrangement.

Sofia wasn't available, so I took these shots with my new iPhone that my sister got me for my birthday. While it does have a flash; these images are just validate my resolve that while I am a good florist - but a terrible photographer!

Spring was on a Antique Violet linen and a sleek sliver container was requested:

Summer was on a soft peach linen and modern black containers were requested:

Fall was a twist on the regular harvest theme and a copper/bronze yet retro container was suggested. I went classic - that's retro right?

And Winter threw me through a loop - they asked for lanterns and mine are white/silver...but they had gold accents on the table settings. So I just went for it & I think the overall look ended up pretty romantic!

ISES: Networking at Octo Lounge

I have been slacking on my networking these days - but now that the trips and get-a-ways have waned I thought I would catch up with my friends at ISES. The monthly meeting was held last night at Octo Waterfront Grille on Delaware Avenue. I am not sure how I missed this patio summer hang out - but the food was plentiful, tasty and the company delightful. I got a chance to catch up with Gal pals Sofia (Sofia Negron Photography) and Gretchen McHale (World Cafe Live). Sofia is doing great - she recently moved to NYC but don't fear! She is still booking Philly weddings! (I'll post out latest together at the Rittenhouse ASAP!) Gretchen is planning a wedding of her own - this event was the debut of her super cool custom designed wedding ring!

Basically these are industry events where we get to mix, mingle and catch up with other "events" people to swap ideas, share tips and hopefully get a little business out of it. Occasionally, there are people whom I have run into at these things but we don't get to spend any quality time together.

Marilyn Sukonick-Zeff is one of them. She is a professional Tarot Reader & Company of Psychics. Yes that's correct. Apparently, Gretchen is an acquaintance of hers and has multiple readings. All of which she says were "relevant and insightful." How could I resist hearing about my possible destiny when Marilyn's business card is a virtual mullet - all business in the front and Tarot on the back! The flip side of my card showcased this image:

Yikes! I have to admit I was quite curious to hear what my card was going to tell me & was totally glamoured by Marilyn when she spoke. I couldn't really remember all of the details that she shared but here are the basics - with the added note that this change in my life is going to happen on the first...the first of what she couldn't say...:

San Francisco's Flora Grubb Vertical Gardens

I had a few projects out in SF this summer & one was to help Hubbard Foss revamp some of their showroom space now that they are branching out into more planters and garden gear. I took the opportunity to take them on a field trip to one of my favorite garden centers - Flora Grubb. Our mission was to check out her Vertical Gardens in particular:

One of the things I miss the most about SF is the California weather and the floral materials that are available all year long. The flower market is one of the few wholesale markets in the United States that is owned and run for and by flower growers. There is so much gorgeous materials it's hard to be a bad florist! I think that's why I love Flora Grubb Gardens so much. It a a gorgeous balance between local available product and natural loose design. We got a lot of great inspiration for different plants that we could use to build our own living walll - as well as some just fun great eye candy:

Road Trip To NYC!

It's NY International Gift Fair week so we headed to the big apple - by way of Jersey City! What?! Yep! I had a meeting and walk through at the almost completed Maritime Parc event space with a lovely prospective bride who is getting married next June.

I have this thing for the Statue of Liberty, I crane my neck when headed to Long Island just to get a peek. I've never been there, but have it on my list, it just seems like something I should check out. So I was especially delighted to see that the Maritime Parc is situated right across the street from where the ferry is located to hop on over to Ellis Island! The view from the marina is amazing and you can see the Lady Liberty on the drive in.

The event space is still under construction, but it looks just like the virtual renderings. They have really cool details too like pinspotting in the ceiling for every table, uplighting around the room and some pretty cool fabric panels that are so much better than regular draping. I am really excited to begin working on the decor designs for her proposal!

We were having so much fun that I didn't get headed over to the gift show until 1PM - but that ended up being plenty of time. The exhibitors seem to be fewer and more consolidated every year, only two of the Piers were open. The rest was at The Javitz Center. The good news is that most of my favorites were there showcasing their latest and greatest, and I scored a few new sources for upcoming events.

Gal Pal Sofia Negron lives in NYC these days and we had a chance to meet up and cruised the show together. Here are my top three finds (in order of discovery) of things that caught my eye:

1) The Dunes & Duchess hand crafted candlesticks. I readily admit I was drawn to the table because of this huge leather hinged hurricane - but was quickly swept away by the gorgeous colors and craftsman ship of their signature lacquered candlesticks. Owner and Stylist Stacy Kunstel teamed up with her photographer husband to "dream up wildly romantic products for the home." And I think they've done it. I hear The Knot was by asking questions, considering a photo shoot - I am sure you will see it in their glossy pages soon!

2) I couldn't resist Middle Kingdom's bright porcelain vases from their 'Red Chamber Collection' - I can just imagine hundreds of them clustered down the center of a long dining table. Bo and Alison Jia started the company in 1998 to "strive to revive the luxurious connotations of 'made in China' for a modern audience." They have a story that is as beautiful as their pieces.

3) I'm in love with the felt flowers, pins, brooches, napkin rings from Digs (Duchamp’s Irreverent Guiding Spirit, Inc) - there are so many ways I can think to use them, I can't wait. The designer for these particular pieces is Vacide Erda Zimic from Peru. She employs recycled and reclaimed scrap fabrics such as felt, cotton, georgette, alpaca and industrial carpet combining them to make objects using different processes such as sewing, rolling, sticking and cutting. Another great company with a great story that got started in 1991. Digs is a little like Etsy - but on a different scale. They have a specific mission of sustainability and fair trade - their membership in the Fair Trade Federation and Co-Op America is just the tip of the iceberg!

Michelle and Matt's July Wedding

Michelle knew exactly what she wanted for her wedding when we met over the winter - Schwartzwalder Calla Lilies. She has a clean and simple sense of style, and the designs we worked out were a perfect match.

Her chuppah was sleek lines with bright yellow Oncidium orchids cascading down the top corners. (More images to follow once the photographer posts them online!) The wedding and the reception took place in the Please Touch Museum.

The guests mingled for cocktails in the Carousel Room, and dined in Hamilton Hall. The Bridesmaids had dresses that complimented Michelle's deep purple Callas and the girls balanced out the design with bright yellow mini Callas.

I can't wait to see the rest of the pictures to check out the details of the centerpieces. Until then these images of them having a total blast will have to do!!!

2010 Chef's Dinner for PAWS

I am definitely a little out of order here with the blogging but as the pictures come in I will wax over this summer's events. I just got the images back from my friend Michael Persico of Persico Photo (thank you!) from the 6th annual Chef's Dinner for PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society.) This is the second year I had a chance to support the group and showcase some creative table settings.

This year the PAWS organization was able to raise almost $220,000 with support from sponsors such as Campbell Studios and the attendees who purchased tables/tickets for the event.

The event took place Monday, June 28, 2010 at the Union League of Philadelphia. The high-style event showcased the talents of more than 40 of the region’s top chefs from celebrated dining destinations. Each chef presented an intimate, unique and unforgettable experience for their table of 12 guests, who had the opportunity to meet-and-greet the participating culinary masters while tasting decadent creations prepared personally for them. To enhance the experience each table has a local decorator trick-out the table to polish off the dining experience.

Now, for those of you in the catering industry, the news of my crush on Chef Jean-Marie Lacroix is old news, to the rest of you I am coming out. I can barely speak when I am around him...he is just so...nice. I have appointed him my wishful father figure. (Insert little daydream here.)

So when Max and Me wanted to launch him as their official partner, they decided to host a table & ask me to design it for them. I think I grinned for a week. Check out these great shots - It took all my control not to jump in the photo with Ginger Bickley (Max and Me Catering Director) and Chef!

Instead of the assigned long tables, I used some serps and made an open circle so Chef could interact with his guests. The flower market was overflowing with gorgeous peonies, I couldn't resist designing something girlie. I lined the inner circle of the table with vintage milk glass containers and filled them with Peonies and Garden roses. Accents of Maiden Hair ferns gave some bounce to the table and with the flicker of candles we were ready for guests.

Caitlin & Jim's Wedding: June 26, 2010

I had such a great time working with Caitlin and her family on her wedding this June. We met on one of those chilly days at the National Constitution Center (NCC) - and hit it off. I knew I was in trouble when the conversation turned to Caitlin's plan to wear shoes with a pop of color on her wedding day - she turned me on to Rue Lala; my life (and wardrobe) has not been the same since!

This was the first event I had the opportunity to work with Kevin from from "Spark Photography." He really captured the spirit of their day; and the personalities of everyone attending - these folks were having a great time! They got married at St. Augustine's on Old City and the reception was at the NCC. Caitlin had every detail down from the "I DO" written on the bottom of her shoes to the handmade pinwheels she and her mom made for the escort cards...

There were just too many great shots - check out the slide show for a few more favorites!

PAMPI Gala 2010: "A Night in the Piazza"

More fun stuff happened in June with the PAMPI Gala.
I belong to an event planning organization called "PAMPI" (The Philadelphia Area Chapter of Meeting Professionals International - a regional professional organization dedicated to serving the diverse needs of meeting professionals) and was thrilled to have been invited to work with Kris Sumey from Event FX as the decorator for the PAMPI Gala on June16th. The event took place on The Piazza at Schmidts and we could not have had a better evening. The theme of the event and all of the decor took on a Italian twist with inspiration from the Trevi Fountain we awarded honors and ushered in the new president.

Todd Zimmermann from Pictures by Todd was an event sponsor for the evening and the official photographer that evening; he was kind enough to share some images with CS (Thank You Todd!):

Jacob Berger's Bar Mitzvah at the NCC

Who loves The Constitution? Jacob Coleman Berger does! And his mom, Lynda, made sure his Bar-Mitzvah was the best in history!

Of course the reception took place at the National Constitution Center.

Lynda owns Color Reflections, a full service printing company and she made some really cool details to tie in all of the Philadelphia history into the party. Then she went one step further and made her own lamps - using family photos she made this super cool lamp that glowed all night long.

Oh yeah, and there were some pretty decent centerpieces & floral decor too! All of the lanterns echoed Paul Revere - "the guest are coming, the guests are coming!"

And even though neither Lynda nor I actually personally made these - we agree that it might be the coolest thing every - Photofetti!

Summertime Catch Up - ISES: FRESH 2010

Apparently it has taken be awhile to dig out of the deep winter freeze! I have been out having fun, working on great events and shamefully neglecting blogging! So here come some updates - probably out of order - but fun tidbits about what we've been up to here at CS! So lets dig back to oh, say, March - Brrr...That's when one of my favorite networking organizations ISES (International Special Events Society) had it's annual showcase "FRESH" at Elkins Estate.

"Elkins Estate was built in 1895 by Architect Horace Trumbauer, an important architect of the gilded age. He was responsible for designing homes for the wealthiest families in America, as well as major cultural institutions such as the Free Library of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Elkins Estate was built for William L. Elkins, a noted financier, transportation entrepreneur and philanthropist." - elkinsestate.org

I was so excited to be the Sponsor that got to decorate the Pod in the Music Room. I think it is the most beautiful room in the house. It is over the top Rococo, gold, crystals - Liberace would have LOVED it! The Estate is right around the corner from my Alma Mater Tyler School of Art (or where it used to be until it moved downtown this past year!) and I used to go by itching to get inside for a peak! This is my 3rd year participating (FRESH 2007 & FRESH 2008) in the event where Philadelphia Caterers, Decorators, Entertainers and Special Event Vendors get to showcase what they see as 'Fresh' for the upcoming year.

You know what I think is "Fresh?" Developing something that suits the room or the client instead of always trying to make something it is not. So I went for it - the room screamed gold, gold, gold and more, more, more - so that's what I did....what ever I wanted..Our room was still jumping at the end, they had to kick people out after the event was over!

When you have a "Pod" the event coordinator assigns you other vendors who have asked for space to showcase their wares...this year I was thrilled to design a space with great talent: CinemaCake; Max and Me, Choice Party Linens, Cort Furniture Rental, Ken Ulsaney Ensemble and Chaddsford Winery.

And now the best part PICTURES- Sofia Negron was there! So I got awesome pictures, again! Here are a few...

Independence Visitors Center Open House

If you haven't made your way to the Independence Visitors Center (IVC) lately swing by over the weekend! Nestled between one of my other favorite venues the NCC, the IVC is located right by the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. They actually have a lovely Grand Ballroom on the second floor with a beautiful view from the Terrace. Michael Persico captured these shots from the last Open House we did together to showcase the rooms possibilities to current clients & potential brides.

The Please Touch Museum hosted their bridal open house earlier in the month & I was happy to see so many of you there! Campbell Studios is decorated a few tables, so prospective & current clients could get a feel for the room decorated, Max and Me Catering served up good eats, answered questions and my gal pal Sofia Negron was there. Wedding Showcase at the National Constitution Center

Sofia joined me again for another Max and Me event last week. This time it was the winter edition of their Wedding Open House at the National Constitution Center.

These events are fun since it is such a collaboration. Max and Me work together with the NCC to decide on a color palette and they bring in all the linens, chairs, place settings etc. All the things that they can showcase from their packages that they both offer. Then Campbell Studios joins the fun and bring the ideas together with a floral table design that ties in all the elements. They like to do a display for each season - which is a little tricky since it's January & summer stuff is not in season. But I think a bold use of color gets the general idea across. When summer actually rolls around - I'll use local flowers that are in season...until then happy Gerberas will do nicely!

Kara and Nick

Kara and Nick tied the knot October 10th at St. John the Evangelist in Philadelphia. Kara has such as beautiful sense of style that it was particularly exciting to work with her.

She designed all of the printed materials right down to the place cards. Here is the save the date which was inspired by all of the colors in her wedding party:

Since all of the attendants has a different color dress we tied them together with the bright green splash above and Kara's favorite flower - Alstroemeria. Yellow was the only color absent from the palette so all of the flowers followed suit.

Allebach Photography captured all of the moments from the day (there are just too many good ones...you can see more on the slideshow to the right!) Rachel and Mike are an amazing team. While they are known for their edgy style, you don't need to be a 'Tattooed Bride' or a 'Rock 'n Roll Groom' to hire them. These photographers have the innate ability showcase YOUR personal sense of style on your big day with their artistic touch. The Bridal party took over the Loews Hotel, as they walked down to the church for the ceremony.

Claudia Seyler was the stylist who did all of the hair and make-up for the gals. She is always so soothing to be around - I wish she would do my hair and make-up everyday!

The reception was held down the street at the PAFA Hamilton Building, another one of my favorite places. This venue was perfect for Kara and Nick - they are so creative and artistic, it matched their personalities to a "T"! I designed the seating card display as an interactive sculpture wall to showcase the individual hand made origami flowers that Kara (and her sister Christina!) labored over...with love of course!

Then the guests moved into the main dining room where they were seated at tables that each held a unique centerpiece. All the flowers were yellow, and designed with a modern twist which complimented both the bride and the art facility itself.

PAMPI 2009 Holiday Party

This winter PAMPI (Pennsylvania's Chapter of Meeting Planners International) and HSMAI (Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International) got together and hosted a joint holiday Party at the Franklin Institute. This year this event was in place of the 'Jingle Jam' that I have been involved with in the past.

The theme was "Peace, Love & The Holidays" so we donated our giant LOVE Park statue and made a ton of little plexi cut outs for the occasion: Snowflakes, LOVE and of course some Peace Signs to round out the theme. Steve Ladner provided all of the photos from the event.

Donna and Robin - Hearts in San Francisco

I am desperate for summer - I love it when photos come back...it gives me hope that we will eventually dig out of this deep freeze we are in!

I feel so lucky to have been a part of Robin & Donna's Wedding Day. Donna is another bride who loved the details and did almost all of it herself. From the figurines on top of the cake, to the invitations, seating cards and outdoor flower curtain. She didn't miss a beat! They got married over Labor Day weekend in San Francisco at the Limn Gallery. All of these beautiful images are from their photographer, Divine Order Photography.

Philadelphia Wedding Project Launch!

Well it is officially underway - let the snapping of photos and flashing of bulbs begin! The PWP together with Philadelphia Magazine publicly announced the winners at a party hosted by Washington Square on Wednesday November 18th. All of the "Business Partners" of the project were invited to come share the big news with Caitlin and Rodney. The couple is one step closer to home, now stationed in Germany. So their family rallied and we got a change to mix and mingle with them at the party.

I was delighted to attend (who doesn't love a party?) and to be in such good company was fabulous. As Campbell Studios I had donated my wedding planning services - but alas, the couple already had secured a planner prior to entering the project. Nicole Brennan from Lovely Girls Events is their gal, she and I had a chance to catch up. Nicole is located in Delaware and has known Caitlin since their High School days!

Speaking of lovely girls... Nicole and I had a lot in common and look forward to working together soon!

You know how I feel about cake - and Cakes by Suzy didn't disappoint! She made the PWP logo - here is the center! It was chocolate, I loved it.

Did I mention mingling with great people? Caitlin and Rodney call each other "Waffle" so the signature drink was a "Waffletini" - no syrup thankfully just a funny name to a sweet tropical blue cocktail! Over such adult beverage - we (myself and Bailey Hale of MODA botanica) ran into a few more lovely ladies. Like Beka from Innove Events and Marnie Cullen from TableArt.

MODA botanica did the flowers for this party as well as donating a portion of their services should the couple like to have them as floral decorators for the wedding itself. The couple has a "Seaside theme" that they will bring to Winterthur for the big day. So MODA brought in a tasteful touch of drift wood and flowers that evoke the underwater fantasy such as protea, succulents, tillandsia and lily pad like galax leaves.

Catching up with Vanessa from Two Paper Dolls was fun too - they have such great style. Bailey and I chatted it up with them. They do beautiful work. Talking about letterpress got me itching to do some more printmaking. Note to self: sign up for studio time at the Fleisher!

And it wouldn't be a networking event with out Sofia by my side - check out the coat - I look like Inspector Gadget!

I am such a bad blogger! I have been swamped with fun events, writing proposals and checking out fun new places. All great, but they all have distracted me from updating the blog - so here is a flurry of activity, all out of order I am sure!

I spent the past weekend with my friend and photographer Sofia Negron. She was taking part in a super cool wedding soiree called Shaadi Chic that was put together by Preeti Shah this past weekend. Preeti is the founding designer of Spotlight Style, an event management and design firm based in NYC. While this event was focused mostly on Indian weddings the multi-cultural blends were gorgeous. (As was Sofia's work - check out this photo from an album she was showcasing!)

Now, I did not have the pleasure of working this wedding with Sofia, but I did help with her trade show display. So off we were late Saturday evening to set this bad boy up and I got tucked in early AM. But it was all worth it. Not only did I have a super fun time hanging out with Sofia, but it always feels good to lend a hand to a friend! Great Job Sofia!

"Diana a Celebration" Opening Party

"Diana a Celebration" had a preview party at the National Constitution Center on 10.01.09 - and I was so excited. Not only did I get to work in one of my favorite places, with one of my favorite people (Ginger from Max and Me) but I got to be delightfully close to royalty. We made some simple classic little treats for the cocktail tables in mercury glass julep cups. Silvery Dusty Miller and white Hydrangea were jewels on the icy blue linens. A nod to the simply classic style that was behind the exhibit doors.

I thought of my friend Terry the whole time & am hoping maybe he can come up North to see if her train was as long in person as it is in my head!

Hurry, the show is only up until December 31st!

Mt. Holyoke Reunion at the NCC

Mt. Holyoke celebrated its Alumni Event at the NCC this Fall on September 3oth. Sofia Negron captured the details of their event and then stuck around to record the memories. These gift bags each hosted a little herb plant that the guests can plant once they get back home.

And with a few touches added to the Buffets, the stage was set!

Sofia Negron is one of my favorite photographers and is a founding partner of The Philadelphia Wedding Project! She is one of six artists who have put together an incredible opportunity where one lucky couple who is planning to wed in 2010 or early 2011 will be able to have all six local photographers capture their big day on film! Philly Icons

Here are some fun little things to bring a touch of Philly to your event while staying sleek. I love these Philly cut outs. I just added the Phillies 'P' to the mix and will be adding the rest of the sports teams over the summer. My favorite is still the Clothes Pin.

This is one of the projects that reminds me why I like what I do, and that the possibilities are endless. By offering complete event design and production I have all the tools at my disposal and the cross over in unique. All I need to do is dream up the the ideas. Here I made use of the fabrication side of the studio. These frosted plexi Icons were cut out on the CNC router (a.k.a. The Robot). We have them in all sizes and cover a huge range of Philly flair: The Liberty Bell, Ben Franklin, The Clothes Pin, LOVE PARK, Kites and Keys...we can custom cut just about any design.

How cool is this shot with Independence Hall in the background!

I'm also really grooving on stair decor these days too so stay tuned. Clean simple touches draw your guests up to the next experience.

Zoobilee 2009!

Campbell Studios was invited to partner up with the Philadelphia Zoo and participate in: Zoobilee 2009 Birds in Paradise. This was the 35th Annual Zoobilee, which also happens to be one of the longest running fundraising events in Philadelphia. This was our second year donating decor for the fundraiser and we are proud to be a part of the community!

We helped dress the VIP Dessert Lounge that was set up in the Tiger Terrace overlooking Bird Lake. Guests were brought to this room after dinner and treated to front row seating for the fountain/light show that took place on the lake once the sun went down.

Linens were Atlantis Turquoise and set the color pallet for a cool underwater vibe. Later in the evening, the lighting treatment from the rooftop had a soft undulating ripple through the skylights above that added to the 'under the sea' ambiance. Tall vases reached out towards the skylights with Monstera Leaves, Sago Palms Leaves, Green Amaranthus, Seeded Eucalyptus and touches of orchids to added a splash of color.

Since prime viewing was at the windows we lined the table edges with candles and orchids to pull the decor together.

I made some new friends too, who helped me implement the design: Igor & Nihad. They are here from Bosina working at the Zoo for a few months. They picked all the blossoms off over 30 bunches of Jade Orchids and lined them up along the windows and at the bases of the centerpieces. Great Job! thanks guys!

And speaking of friends...thanks for the photos Sofia! The availability of free food was too much for us to pass up so we checked out the party, met some fun people and saw something that might have verged on monkey porn...anything look a little not right here?

Right?! I don't see any babies anywhere....boobs?! Implants?

And we saw this totally cool plant, I think it is called 'Dracunculus vulgaris' (also seems to be referred to as 'Dragin Plant' or 'Meat Plant')and vulgar it was. The smell is like rotting meat and the blossom huge! Once I started taking pictures we drew a crowd, it really was an amazing plant.

Black and White Party

We kicked of graduation season with a modern twist on black and white at one of our favorite places the National Constitution Center. The crisp white linens and the sharp NCC black chairs set the stage for each centerpiece to shine.

Sofia captured the details of the tables...all different vases each showcasing a different white flower. This particular design was the last of three I had included in the proposal - it was an idea that I had been wanting to do for awhile so I tossed it in right before I sent it. I'm so glad the client trusted my creative license - we were both excited about the final results! Here are just a few!

I got a call from Sofia Negron (of Sofia Negron Photography) last week that I needed to get out networking again. "There's lot's of great stuff out there and your missing it," she said. Plus, there is usually free food involved with networking - so I jumped at the chance to check out F.U.E.L. with a fresh eye. It had been awhile since I was at 249 Arch Street - like when it was the "Real World" house. It seemed like a great idea to sell the venue in original TV condition, but a wee bit skeevy too.

The location has been revamped and is a cool event space and has been repainted white for a clean fresh blank canvas to work from, beautiful chandeliers and an open floor plan. But what makes it even better for me is the great artwork on display. F.U.E.L. is an acronym: Fostering Undergraduate Exposure on Location, and as a Tyler School of Art Grad myself I could have used a space like this! They are committed to cutting-edge arts and culture - so I can't wait to have a MODA client book this space. We'd be a perfect combination.

Anyway, back to networking...Sofia and I had a great time:

I pulled double duty at this one figuring one way or another great contacts could be made for both MODA and/or CS and I think we came out with a little something for everyone. The event was sponsored by Brides.com and was filled with lots of great event people making connections. Fleur de Lys Catering showcased great food, we chatted up Lindsay Martin and Alain Flambert from Feastivities Events and Carolyn Verdi was in the house too!

Please Touch Museum Open House

The Please Touch Museum opened in the Fall of 2008 & I love it! If you haven't been, grab a kid and get over there! The design is smart, the restoration to Memorial Hall is amazing - you are definitely going to want to have your next party here. The Please Touch Museum lead the rehabilitation of this national treasure from the 1876 Centennial Exhibition, and Max & Me Catering is proud to serve as the museum's exclusive culinary provider.

Max and Me Catering hosted an Open house for current and prospective clients. Campbell Studios was invited to do some table decor.

It gave us an opportunity to burst into spring with some color (finally!) and to help Max and Me Showcase their Great Hall for clients so they can get a feel for the room decked out. Michael Persico was kind enough to swing by & take these shots for us - Thank You!

I loved these vases they were so bright and I was so ready for spring. Inspired by this beautiful linen that the Total Table let me borrow I filled them with Lily of the Valley, Ladies Mantel, Viburnum and a few other bright green foliage I found growing in the garden.

I can not figure out where the time has gone - but it's been pretty busy here at CS.
I'll start where I left off - the launch of HubbardFoss' new space in San Francisco.

I went back out mid-March to coordinate the Open Studio. Check out come of the event photo's and the gorgeous work that they showcased. I can't wait to add one of the curved computer tables to my collection. My girl Grace & I struck a pose in front of the platform bed's debut.
I love those tall lamps in the background!

The food was catered by Devil's Slide Catering and was amazing! They had these mini flank steak tacos to die for, not to mention the outrageously delicious olives on the cheese platter - I couldn't get enough!

These two companies are on the rise - keep an eye out for them!

Yes, its true - I spent the weekend in the city by the bay - and while it rained the ENTIRE time I had a blast.

I had the opportunity to check out the new collaboration of HubbardFoss. Formerly Richard Hubbard Design - Richard moved his old studio from Oakland (his production base for the past 8+ years) into the heart of San Francisco a couple months ago. His new place is awesome!

He is preparing to showcase his new designs next month...and being the proud collector that I am - Campbell Studios is delighted to coordinate the Opening's logistics. Stay tuned, the Spring Collection is unveiled March 19th!

Richard hooked up with this awesome entrepreneur - Michelle Baden Foss. Check her out - she is incredible! With her on board Richard can really concentrate on making his signature pieces.

Don't be shy either - you can start small. I began collecting smaller art pieces from him like this funny little guy (completely had crafted and finished with the exception of the traveler!) and over the course of a few years ended up with a little something of his in every room!

Happy Valentine's Day!
I skipped over a few favorites that I will get back to - but in the meantime...I was thinking of this couple so here is a little bit about them...

Chrissy & Pat were the last & the first clients of the year for me! I was the wedding coordinator for their nuptials January 2, 2009. They tied the knot at St. John Neumann in Bryn Mawr, PA - headed for a few quick shots at Chrissy's alma mater Notre Dame Academy then they danced the night away at The Crystal Tea Room. The rehearsal was on NYE, and the guests ran in the new year with the bride and groom at their side.

Alison Conklin Photography did a gorgeous job of capturing their night - this shot of them in the photo booth is just one sweet moment from the night.

Meg and Matt at Cairnwood

Meg & Matt got married at The Cairnwood Mansion too. We had fun designing the floral decor to showcase their blue theme with style & texture. Adding traditional flowers such as blue Hydrangea was a lovely juxtaposition to the Heather & Thistle we used to tie in their Scottish/Irish heritage.

I had been dying to embroider monograms on a bridesmaids bouquets for what seemed like an eternity & Meg totally went for it! It looked awesome - you can't tell from these pictures, but each bouquet had long custom sewn bouquet ties that reached the bottom of the girls dresses. At the bottom each was personalized with their own monogram in blue - totally awesome.

Alison Conklin was the photographer for this wedding & I love her eye for detail. She got all of them - what do guys wear under kilts anyway?! (Don't ask!) Guests were seated out front of the mansion, where the programs were fixed to cute little fans - just incase the early June heat kicked in!

Then they proceeded inside where we carried the color and flower theme through to the tables.

Megan and Mark at Pen Ryn Mansion

Megan and Mark feel like family, and practically were! I showed up to take down the centerpieces and one of my cousins was there as a guest! They got married at Pen Ryn Mansion in Bensalem, PA this past November. Megan had dreamed of an outdoor wedding ever since she was a little girl...no mind that she booked a date the last week in November! She didn'e even blink an eye when it snowed earlier in the week. This chick has great Karma - her day was beautiful, warm and sunny.

She had some criteria - BIG centerpieces, tall glass containers with green fruit in them & color - lots of color! My dream! So we set half the room with tall glass cylinders & filled them with bright green apples that had a beautiful blush across them. (I'm still eating them!) You can sort of see them in the back of this picture below... The rest of the tables were set with lush full arrangements in compotes filled with the same apples and topped with open red and orange roses, pink Vanda orchids and red Mokara orchids.

They had a crew that partied - so she booked a school bus - and we all thought that was hilarious! I convinced her to toss the bouquet from the bus as they left the party. I ran across her email a little while ago where she said...
"Just so you know people continue to compliment the flowers from the wedding, the centerpieces and bouquets were gorgeous, really stunning! I absolutely loved them. Also, the last picture of us on the bus is really great - you were soooo right!"

I have no idea who this little cutie is but it I thought it was so funny! It is a testament to Simon of Simon Jon Photography that he doesn't miss a thing at the reception! I ran into the father-of-the-bride the other day & he was talking about the wedding - he was gushing about how Simon was so unobtrusive & amazed that he got so many awesome shots.

Oh yeah - here's a shout out to Megan - she totally rocked the giant hair flower! For you ladies out there in search of hair adornment - she said she got it from a company called "ban.do" check them out ! You can look this good too!

Violet and Glen at Masso's Crystal Palace

I met Violet and Glen while coordinating Roger & Dana Bands Wedding. The Bands had booked a different videographer who was unable to fulfill the contract for their date - so they were referred to GM Elliott Videography.

Many of my other brides love Glen's work too so we have gotten to know each other. I was so honored to be able to do the floral decor for their own wedding. Violet loved pink so we did it up and I think the flowers look really great against the black bridesmaids dresses.

Now you have to love a girl who will let you throw things at you!

Cori Traynor at The Radnor Hunt Club

This Valentine inspired February postings of past brides is really fun. What a great reminder if these wonderful people I met & how I got to be a part of their day. I met Cori through her mom, Trudy. She works at one of my non-profit coordination clients and knew we did flowers too. Cori fell in love with a beautiful estate in Malvern, PA - the Radnor Hunt. Cori is the first bride I met that had to be coerced into having a cake. She could have cared less! Can you believe it?! I LOVE cake. When I get married - if you are coming, eat first! I am only serving cake. She did redeem herself in this area by having a dream of a dessert bar with all white candies and treats. Anyway, Cori was beautiful; she had a fantastic day despite torrential downpours that seemed to occur at truly the perfect time. When I delivered the personals to Villanova's Chapel, her bridal party made it into the doors, she started down the aisle to an earth shaking clap of thunder. I was worried...but he sky cleared up during the ceremony. Heather Fowler's pictures from this day show no sign of a drop! The guests had cocktails inside the estate house, but the dined, wined and danced the night away under a huge tent. The Lemon Tree Catering set up a huge field tent to serve as the kitchen and did an outstanding job. Campbell Studios did all the lighting on a pink hue and did the flowers with bamboo accents. These picked up the 20' poles of fresh bamboo that we had cut down ourselves early in the morning (yep, in the pouring rain!) Oh, yeah - that is a rainbow above their heads!

Ngoc and Leon at Cairnwood

Ngoc & Leon had their first date on Valentines Day - so that makes this story even more appropriate to look back on! They got married in 2005 at Cairnwood Mansion. I met them through a great wedding coordinator Christine Cucinotta who owns "Anything but Ordinary" in West Chester, PA.

They paid special attention to incorporate both their Vietnamese and Chinese heritage. Ngoc had both a traditional ceremony at home in traditional Vietnamese dress. Mike Kehr was the photographer & he captured all of their details beautifully. I designed her flower arrangements to be bright & juicy to compliment the coral bridal party dresses. My placesetting design for them was selected to accompany her story that appeared in Philadelphia Bride magazine & she was also showcased online at The Knot "Real Weddings!"

Nicole Scaldeferri at The Ben

Nicole Scaldeferri got hitched in 2006 and had a beautiful reception in center city at The Ballroom at the Ben. By choosing all red toned flowers for the bridesmaids, we were able to give additional depth to the rich red dresses.
Nicole knew right away that classic white calla lilies were for her and she pulled
it off wonderfully!

I am sure she will give me flack for the quality here - but I scanned them - she is a traditional print gal! Since we are in the month of love...how about a few fabulous bouquets? I am posting a here is a little retrospective of past brides who are still under the spell of Cupid!

Gina Meyers was a referral from a friend in 2005. She got Married at a cute little railroad style reception Hall called Columbia Station in Phoenixville, PA. She was a girl not afraid of color with a gorgeous jewel toned bouquet. She switched it up and had the bridesmaids carry these super cute sleek calla lily bouquets, and adding a personal touch selected silver charms as Birdesmaids gifts...a different one for each to suit their personality!

I am a little late on the blog bandwagon so I have a little catching up to do! Campbell Studios is in it's seventh year and we have been producing a ton of great events!

Over the next few days I am going to have trip down memory lane and share with you some of my favorite events and projects!

Like this one! We designed & fabricated these light up bars in 2003, then added some vertical light buffets for our client Occasions Caterers in DC in 2006. They were featured in the March/April 2006 issue of Catering Magazine at the Air and Space Museum in DC.

This year's Holiday Party took place at the Simeone Foundation Museum and it was transformed! Starr Events provided the catering and Campbell Studios donated a ton of LED flicker candles, our custom built racetrack main bar and a bunch of Morroccan lanterns to finish off the decor. Liberty Medal Award - National Constitution Center 2008

On September 18, 2008 The National Constitution Center awarded Mikhail Gorbachev the 2008 Liberty Medal Award. Campbell Studios was the decorator for the Gala celebration.

Guests made their way up to the reception through arches we designed and fabricated ourselves, that were inspired by the iconic Kremlin spires and arches.

All of the designs were inspired by his Russian heritage from Garden of Peterhof, St. Petersburg to the Hermitage and the jewels in the Diamond Vaults of the Kremlin. Colors were saturated, containers decadent...

CSI at Jasna Polana

Sometimes team building can be fun - like when your company is hosting the event at Jasna Polana. This used to be the private Johnson & Johnson Estate, and the room where this dinner took place is actually the pool room! It has since been fitted with a floor - but the pool actually still exists! Some detective work huh? Speaking of which...this group had been having some CSI themed team building - so each table was designed in the team color...and in containers that would enhance their 'work.' Test tubes, magnifying glasses, beakers all added to the theme!

FRESH 2008 - ISES

This year ISES celebrated FRESH 2008 at the new Harrah's Chester Casino. The ballroom was packed with all the best the the industry had to offer this spring. Once again Sofia hooked everyone up with event photos and we got to check ourselves out in the Mid Atlantic Events Magazine. We were the decorators & paired up with Max and Me Catering to deign a 'Pod' together. Here we showcased three of their different treats on three of our light up bars. We designed and fabricated everything again: all three bars, the giant round upholstered ottoman, the wood laminated walls with cut outs for flowers and hoisted up all of our truss!

And we like our bamboo Tradeshow Booth so much that we disassembled it & used it as a backdrop this year...where MODA did the flowers for Georges Perrier's Le Bec Fin & Signature Restaurants

FRESH 2007 - ISES

FRESH! 2007

ISES (International Special Events Society) is a trade organization that I have been involved with (sometimes as a member, others just as a volunteer) who's mission is to educate, advance and promote the special events industry and its network of professionals along with related industries. Every year they have a showcase for the industry to check out the latest and greatest of what is going on in the community. New trends, new products and generally what's "Fresh" culminates in a great venue to showcase everyone's ideas/wares.

This is my first year participating (2007) and the event took place at Sherman Mills East Falls.
We made our own little atmosphere with our trade show booth. We fabricated everything (cause that's what we do!) from the bamboo carved plexi walls to the hand selected flowers from the New York Flower Market just for this event. I cut the bamboo in the AM so that it could tower above the guests and create a mini oasis within the trade show. This is where I first met my gal pal Sofia Negron who took all these photos, I've been stalking her for event photos ever since!
